Frequently Asked Questions
Still have some questions? See if its in here.
-
What are our qualifications? We are a team of fully qualified and AHPRA registered Physiotherapists & Strength & Conditioning Coaches (Australian Strength & Conditioning Association).
-
What experience do we have working with ACL tears? We have had the privilege of guiding athletes from multiple sports (soccer/football, windsurfing, snowboarding, netball, CrossFit, military personnel & rugby) over the last 4 years. We see ACL athletes weekly for rehabilitation, second opinions and primary diagnoses.
-
Do you have personal experience with ACL tears?Sadly, yes. I tore my ACL in my right knee in 2019. I was still studying physiotherapy at the time and decided to manage my injury non-surgically. Due to it being a rare, isolated ACL tear, I didn’t have too many problems with returning to sport. Sadly still, my ACL hasn’t healed properly since (due to poor management by me and my medical team at the time) and I still experience minor feelings of instability from time to time. I manage it very well though and it doesn’t stop me from playing soccer or being as active as I want to be. I do not fear my injury or let it define me.
-
What is your treatment philosophy?I believe in the human body’s ability to heal, adapt and become extremely resilient. My approach circulates around the understanding that all aspects of our life play a part in ensuring we become strong and resilient humans in the face of adversity – hence, not only do I focus on the biomechanics of movement, but also the perception of movement, the meaning behind it and your approach to it. Rather than using the word "holistic" which is now marred by mumbo-jumbo concepts, I like to say my approach is rounded and overlapping with all facets of your life.

How does Beyond ACL work?Beyond ACL offers 3 or 6-month programs to accelerate your ACL rehabilitation. The process is simple! To sign up, simply fill in a comprehensive injury history form. From there, you will have an initial consult, a few testing days, and then the program commences. Your program will include specific sets, reps, intensity, speeds and rest breaks tailored to your recovery process. All you need to do is show up and smash through it! Tests are conducted periodically to ensure you’re on track. Weekly check-ins and 16/7 text support are also offered to ensure you feel supported at each step and can get any questions answered quickly.
-
What equipment do I need for online rehabilitation? You will need access to gym equipment. If you weren’t a gym person before, you will need to become one now. You have between 3-8x your bodyweight going through your leg during running – we cannot prepare you for this without gradually building up to heavy weights! However, if you don’t have certain equipment, or simply dislike an exercise, our physiotherapists/coaches can suggest alternatives.
-
How do you ensure the exercises are done correctly without in-person supervision? Our physiotherapists/coaches will utilise slow-motion video analysis of your submitted form videos to provide in-depth feedback tailored to you. You can submit as many videos as you like at any point of time. Additionally, if you wish to have someone from our team provide real-time feedback, time to do so can be arranged – just ask!
-
Is online rehabilitation as effective as in-person sessions?Depends on the person & their situation. Most of the athletes we work with are self-sufficient in the gym and would like the level of constant support only online rehab can provide. Unlike in-person sessions, our sessions aren’t rushed, our exercises aren’t provided on a sheet of paper AND you can contact our physios/coaches at ANY time. No more waiting for your next session to ask a simple question! Get clarity ASAP. So, yes. Online rehab is as effective, if not MORE effective, than in-person sessions.
-
How do I get started with your online ACL rehabilitation program?Getting started is easy! Simply sign up on our website, fill out our comprehensive injury history form, and schedule an initial consultation with one of our physios/coaches. During the consultation, we’ll discuss you, your injury, your goals, and create your comeback blueprint. The rest is simple – show up, lean in on us, and get back to dominating your sport ASAP.
